Normalisation

I need to get my head Normalisation so I am asking you guys If I am right here. Is first normalised form where you remove all multi-valued attributes to form a new entity? 2NF is where you remove attributes dependent on one part of the compound key to form a new entity? 3NF is where you look at all the entities present to look for non-key dependicies? Please correct me if I am wrong cause I have a exam in the morning

I'm a professional database applications engineer and I don't even remember what was each normal form about.
