Normalisation

I need to get my head Normalisation so I am asking you guys If I am right here. Is first normalised form where you remove all multi-valued attributes to form a new entity? 2NF is where you remove attributes dependent on one part of the compound key to form a new entity? 3NF is where you look at all the entities present to look for non-key dependicies? Please correct me if I am wrong cause I have a exam in the morning

He was saying he doesn't remember, not that he doesn't know how to find out. In short, he hasn't had any reason to use that knowledge in a long time. Simple, huh?
