Turbo C didnt come out till 87, it wasnt till then that home computers had processors with enough memory to run a C compiler. With Turbo Pascal which came out in 81, the entire compiler, including editor, was able to run in 40k of memory, small enough to fit in the CP/M OS back then. Turbo C++ didnt come out till 91
