Yeah, honestly windows is not that hard to install or deal with. It seems to have a bad rep, but that's really several years out of date.
To illustrate, I just set a junction to my profile on a (several gig) thumb drive on all the computers I use. Instant roaming, my wallpaper, firefox, everything is the same on my home and school computer, and windows 2000 vs XP makes no difference. I have to make sure that the programs I want are installed, but other than that it's super smooth.
I think that programs should be sane from the point of view of programs themselves. You should have to adapt your usage when writing the code, not when using the program. It's the other way around on linux.
