Taking a study course on Macromedia Flash

My company is offering to sponsor me to take a course in macromedia flash. I've been looking around, right now its such a bad time to sign up for a course at the local colleges/uni because they are either just ending or the next avaible would only be end of the year.

I was thinking about the those corporate training courses (the 2-5 days types) but they seem quite costly.

has anyone taken a flash course before? Anyone have any advice to give?

90% of what people use js/flash/java/quicktime for is useless.
most of the 10% that's actually useful can be done just as well or better with cgi.
