languages of choice

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-13 1:05

C, Perl, Python, Java and LISP — the dominant languages in open-source development. This list has changed over time, but slowly. Java bumped C++(HAR HAR) off of it, and Python appears to be recruiting people who would otherwise gravitate to LISP(HAR HAR) (which used to be much more important than it is now). Smalltalk and Prolog are also popular in small but influential communities.

C still dominates.

C dominates as a low level language. Consider the amount of open sauce written in C, or C++-- at most.

PHP can't be snubbed - a lot of open sauce, free or commercial web applications are written in it, like it or not. Some are bad, but some are good.
