Yeh I like it. I already knew Java and tried to learn Perl but got nowhere, had a go with Python and really love it.

I thought it was really the most fucking stupid thing I had seen in a while when I found out that it uses leading spaces instead of curly braces or another character like most other languages.
I tried to force myself to learn it but couldn't get over how utterly dumb that was, so I gave up, since it doesn't really do anything other programming languages can't do better anyway.
Lisp + Ruby + Python = crap nobody asked for and nobody needs

I make a living off Python.
It's not the prettiest language out there, but it sure beats writing business apps in Java. If I had to do that, I think I'd quit coding and do something less brain-damaging, like being a garbageman high on acid and crack.
That'd be fun.

This thread will now segue to a discussion of JAVA SUX LOL

I like Python, it's a nice, clean language, a bit on the verbose side, but not enough to disgust me, and I like how it forces morons to properly indent their code, with which brackets and bracket matching become useless.
I also love its OO model; after seeing C++'s, Java's, and PHP's, I didn't like OO and thought it was a waste of time in most situations, but Python's OO got me interested for a number of reasons.
Compared to Java, Python is better for writing business applications, system applications, and any other applications for that matter, it's much nicer to work with, and has a sane powerful API. Then again, anything is better than Java to work with; only a kick in the balls would be worse.
Finally, it's the fastest of the popular scripting languages, slightly faster than Perl, and faster than PHP, Ruby, and JavaScript.
While I agree with >>10's sentiment, >>11 is correct.
Some "Pythonic" ways of writing code are also retarded. I think the language would be better if the core Python community stopped being a bunch of fags.

Quoted for great justice
Python's greatest weakness is that it's interpreted and thus slow.

Which could have been true, had I used Lisp. Too bad I don't.
Your lack of ability for thought shows, now that's funny.

Pity you fail at logic, so your argument doesn't hold. Maybe you should have paid more attention to how you constructed your sentence in the first place. But that'd involve you to actually think, which you've proven to be impossible. Pity.

Python? Wow I didn't realize somebody uses a worthless toy language like that.
I'm only just starting to learn, and python is my first language. I can't do much more than some extremely basic if commands and such, but it's fun to learn so far.

Python is almost as good as Ruby. It's probably the best language for a lot of uses.
>>32
Sure it does. After all, only a complete uninformed dolt would have an opinion like that.
Unless, of course, you'd like to tell us more?

that's enough for me.

If you have little experience with ruby or python, why claim that perl is far better?
"Its moar awesomes becuz i wants it so!" is a pretty sad way to think.

If you have little experience with ruby or python, why claim that perl is far better?
Because I don't want to think that all the valuable time I invested in Perl is now useless, so I must drive other languages into the ground, and if enough people hate Ruby and Python, I won't have to deal with their possible superiority.
Please don't try to fool yourself into thinking that pissing about in Perl or whatever is equivalent to real Computer Science. That's like saying that soldering a few ICs onto a board is Physics.

I think you may want to reread >>37 a bit more carefully. There are three words in there that make a difference.
Also, the design of languages, and their use, most certainly is CS. Some people seem to be under the mistaken assumption that CS is only discrete math, lambda calculus, and things like pushdown automata and grammars.

Didn't you know? Failure to read is a requirement for posting here! You just run a word filter and read the words left
You just have a quick look for keywords you troll on.

You know, I think I'd rather take the kick than have to do SHIT in Java.

There's a lot of hate for Java around here. I think it's because most of you have never had to use VB. Now there's a language worthy of firey hate of fire.
Usuaully people love python because they don't know anything else other than Java
