Interactive map howto?

I'm turning to you with a request for some help about making a similar thing to the map on http://secondlife.com/ . I would really appreciate any information about the making of such thing. I don't really want to make something fancy, just a frame like on that site, with the ability to move arround and click given links. So if anyone could give me at least some right words to google on from...
