LUA questions

Could anyone answer:
 -how difficult LUA is to learn
 -if there's an easy-building program (maybe menu-based, etc., anything to make it easier)
 -how long it would take to gather the resources required to learn the scripting

Why do fuckrods always think it's an acronym at first?  Do you see ANYONE ELSE typing LUA or L.U.A. ?
