Recording program

What is a good program that will record what happens on screen? as in video not a logger.

It's impossible to do this well for large areas, just think about how much system bandwidth you'd need.

That said, Snapz Pro X for Mac and FRAPS or Camtasia for Windows.

Shut up, there are recorders for X, Windows, and other shit. Do your research, but the easiest thing for a lot of video is just to use TV out and VHS Recorder XD.

But do they do it well?
TV-out is the best way, but doesn't capture every pixel if you want that.

(Also, note that recorders to AVI can never work really well, since AVI is constant-frame-rate and screen recording is hard to do at a constant frame rate if there's high CPU use already)
