Good Place to learn Objective C?

Name: BMP 2005-01-19 22:37

I've decided that one of these days, I need to learn a programming language and get something accomplished. Now, I'm on OS X, which favors Objective C....I believe (correct me if I'm wrong), so that would be the logical jump. But since OS X is a unix breed, gcc and what have you are in full force, so any guide written for a unix compy should be fine.

If someone has some OS X specific information (regarding cocoa and what have you) for total newbies, I'd pee myself with joy. However, if I can just get a command line program to make fun of me, I'll be happy.

Of course, if you've got a better idea (and I bet quite a few will) go ahead and chime in. Anyone?

Start with Java and you might end up quitting your job/career
Fixed

Python is nice, but I don't know if it'd be the best idea to start with it (you don't want to get thrown stuff like "UNBOUND METHOD NOOB HA HA" on your face when you try your first lines of codes, do you?). Besides Python (or Ruby), I recommend C (again, probably not as first, you don't want to do *(int *)&x[**p] in your first month).
