Umno sacks 61 members for defiance


MALAYSIA's Umno has sacked 61 members, including the former deputy chief of its women's wing, for defying the party and contesting as independents.

   The party's disciplinary committee also issued three members with show-cause letters for proposing members as independent candidates and for not submitting nomination papers, reported The Star.

   The decision was made yesterday morning by the Umno disciplinary board headed by Tengku Ahmad Rithaudeen.

   Bernama news agency reported Tengku Rithaudeen as saying that the decision was made in line with Clause 20.10 of the Umno Constitution, which states that any member contesting the general election as an independent candidate will be expelled from the party forever.

   "Expulsion letters have been sent to those concerned," he said in a statement.

   Ms Kamalia Ibrahim, the deputy chief of Wanita Umno, was expelled for contesting as an independent candidate in the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary constituency.

   Among the others are Mr Shariff Omar, the former Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister and Sepang Umno division Youth head Suhaimi Mohd Ghazali.

   Mr Badruddin Tun Mustapha was expelled for contesting in the Semporna parliamentary and Senaliang state seats.

   Tengku Rithaudeen said that in addition, three Ummo members would be called up this week to answer charges why action should not be taken against them for becoming proposers, seconders or failing to submit nomination forms last Saturday.

   "The Umno disciplinary board again reminds members that it is ready to take action on any Umno member who sabotages the party during the campaigning period for the 13th general election," said Tengku Rithaudeen.

Malaysian opposition's charges of vote fraud denied

MALAYSIA'S opposition accused the government of transporting tens of thousands of "imported voters" to sway weekend elections, a charge vehemently rejected by the ruling coalition.

   The allegation by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim came a day after his three-party alliance and clean-election activists said Sunday's result could be skewed by revelations that indelible ink meant to halt fraud was easily washed off. Mr Anwar released a statement charging that at least 40,000 "dubious individuals" had been flown from Malaysian states on Borneo island to Kuala Lumpur on chartered flights since last week. - AFP.

1) Create and sent in secretly the ballot of false votes to "losing" or opposition's polling station

2) Next hit the polling station with blackout and fill in the extra "fake" ballot of votes which favour the ruling party.

3) Create "phantom voters" by allowing foreigners who support the ruling party instead of own citizens to vote.
