meanwhile... Chinese scheming to be reimbursed the debt owed to them invade by California noguns that far west to stop them getting foothold and owning everything west of the Rockies. Chinese over the next ten years defeat the joined tribes of the American colonies. Western culture vanishes from the earth and is remembered in history books as a greedy obese society that fought the longest wars had the most deaths and generally thought of as the most disgraceful age of man.

The North will continue posturing and making threats like it's always done, but now they can include nukes in those threats. The media will continue making a fuss over it and acting like these threats have any legitimacy to them until The New Bird Flu™ becomes something more marketable, then they'll forget about it.
