Living in the UK. Have we been low-balled?

Stepping back from the present day context do you think the state of society is dictated by a minority of wealthy capitalists?

there is a difference between the minimum wage and the established living wage (this is what you need to live on based on where you live, which in my area is atleast 25% above minimum wage). This means the state will 'top up' peoples incomes so they can afford to live and get by whilst giving concessions to big companys becuase they employ lots of people (on minimum wage) like tax cuts or no tax.

if your receiving money from the state chances are your not living well in an overall sense due to life costing money. Also lower down you loose a lot of rights that arent written in contracts they are meant to be social norms... i dont see people higher up working 8 hour shifts every sunday when they have 2 young kids. Oh you didnt take you holiday in time - you loose it no compensation. sundays same pay rate!!!. all kinds of stuff.

for me working 2 days a week not able to get more work and earning £400pm i have to add all the expense of a monopoly bus company so £4.20 per day.plus minimum £3 food. i would be better of not working. and even then i still have no money.

also look at a map of the UK. most of it is owned by a small number of people and exploited with chemicals or growing commodities for the world market. this isn't even questioned.
i don't want to live in a city!

The ignorant are abused and coerced into blindly following what they are told and have been schooled on how to see the world.

who is benefiting from this? are we? science is catching up with human recklessness and basically we are creating health problems as fast as we solve them.

would it not make more sense to step into the new millennium and stop basing our lives on what 50+yo people think?

please be constructive this is just an idea so feel free to add to it.

Sure, but at least your Brits aren't a bunch of serfs having your brides being raped by your lords on your wedding nights.  Yea, you don't make much money and only a few people own the land, but it is a tad bit more egalitarian than it used to be.

Not here in America, the land of the free, where we used to have it better but now we have it like  you are describing.  Except that it matters in America because we never had anything halfway as evil as serfdom.

Never.

Ever.

You need to be more specific. When you say something like this..

most of it is owned by a small number of people and exploited with chemicals

I don't know which group you mean or what chemicals in particular. Water is technically a "chemical", someone who owns a tyre warehouse is technically an "owner", yet neither are particularly corrupt or insidious in nature.

sir i don't know quite what you mean, that sounds like some Celtish stuff right there.I'm sure i read about a local king in the highlands who rocked that game.

Europe is basically progressive so atheism and science are, at least to the public a big deal. open secret is the church have power in our house of lords, the prime minister has a meeting once a week with the queen (i genuinely think a good thing because I'm not about conspiracy and shes probably a smart and logical women and who has a birth responsibility to the population).

In the USA all i can say is you guys take money to an extreme. Your free in the sense that you are free to consume.Religion is a separate thing than spiritualism. Religion IS politics. until America decides which one to follow it wont work

By chemicals i mean over loading the soil with fertilizers and excluding natural flora and fauna from their habitats. our ecosystem is so ruined over realistically thousands of years of land use. this would be a big deal but now we've built city's around fertile locations and the wide spread use of chemicals. its fucked.

i have been alive 20 years and looking around these people are dumb. Original sin? your cells needing energy.
Money is a contract between people. me and ...the bank i guess.
I need money to buy food and pay bills and taxes. fair enough.i need work to get money. to get more money i need a better job. to get a better job i need education. life goes on like that and before you know it you have signed up for like 100k debt.
life goes on and obviously i live in this world.
I don't want 100k debt, i could build my own house sustainably without it looking like a hovel (we don't make wooden house in the UK usually a lot of brick)and i could skip 10 years of enslavement. But no because apparently some other person was born to someone who owns a huge farm so they get that land.

Meh

Still being incredibly vague and confused.

alright smart arse enlighten me. be specific on one thing that pops to mind when i speak of chemical fertilizer use on land with soil suitable for agriculture. this is land i speak of. notice when i say land built on rich agricultural land around rivers ,coastal areas.

please tell me what you know about land use, over feeding plants leading to nitrogen saturation etc. wetlands, studied in peer reviewed journals, are destroyed due to excess nutrients messing with the balance of roots and bacteria growth withing mud causing it to collapse.

explain to me how organic and 'conventional' (wtf)approaches to land use are good and bad.

how about the natural food chain. how have ''chemicals'' #(in the common usage) changed how insects interact.

because only telling me i'm not being specific enough for you is pointless.

Don't change these.
