Israel vs. Palestine vs. United States

How should the United States respond if Israel and Palestine escalates to major armed conflict?

It is likely that the U.S. would get involved, but how do you suppose they should go about it?

Israel's probably not going to attack first, though they may push another setlement that will lead to the "counterattack"  attack; Netanyahu's focused more on Iran right now.  I don't think the United States is directly going to duck into the fray; the resolution, I think, will be like another Six-Day War, regardless of who participates.

If the Occupied Palestinian Territory remains in Israeli or Palestinian hands at the end, the US will probably push that Israel make the same land deal to the Palestines that they made to Egypt and Jordan, and that the Palestinians should take it and that be their state.

If you mean whose side one should be on, Israel or the Arabs, I would certainly say Israel because it's the advanced, technological, civilized country amidst a group of almost totally primitive savages who have not changed for years and who are racist and who resent Israel because it's bringing industry, intelligence, and modern technology into their stagnation. -- Ayn Rand, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uHSv1asFvU

They would and should call for a ceasefire.
Yeah, reality is more boring than fantasy.

glasses every thing.

Israel wants to go Iran and but will want the Palestinians under control b4 they do. US should sit on the fence for now - see if Israel is capable of keeping order in the middle east (very doubtful - lots of Arabs over there). Somethings got to happen but ceasefires and negotiations have never and will never work when there's religious zealots running both sides

Israel is baiting for an attack from iran/egpyt so they have a reason to blow the countries off the map.  The US will back Israel no matter what bc US politicians would rather appeal to the jewish voting bloc than the muslim one

theres a lot more muslims than jews in the middle east.
US should keep as far away as possible - rhetorically support israel but not militarily. China should be asked to help - they're the new superpower and they've kept china pretty peaceful. Israel have said they will go it alone and so they should - they're the biggest military and it's they're home

Dont really know about the "its their home part", but most likely its going to be the same old bomb gaza for a couple of days routine, till thing god back to normal again.

things go back**

Name: Anonymous 2012-11-17 10:52

They want to claim it as their home so they gotta be able to maintain it unilaterally otherwise give it back to the arabs and go find someone else to annoy

please call the white house and urge them to stop the siege of gaza. to stop israeli aggression. to make sure that there is not a repeat of what happened in 08 where at least 1400 palestinians died. to stop asymmetrical diplomacy, warfare, and aid. the palestinians need peace, justice, security, stability, and a fair bargaining chip. one sided support for israel in negotiations will never get peace. it puts the world at risk. your tax dollars go to support a war machine that kills women and children. demand the government stop using our precious resources to support misery and bloodshed. please call the white house and tell them you are not ignorant to the unfair and biased international policy of the united states. that you will not stand for your tax dollars supporting colonialism, something this country found against in its first moments. call to show support for your palestinian brothers and sisters in humanity. the only road for peace israel can take is to open its borders to arab citizenship on an equal footing. CALL, EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE, AGAIN AND AGAIN! (202) 456-1111

Don't change these.
