Women have predominantly suffered from Western Imperialism.

Discuss.

Women have predominantly suffered in virtually everything prior to the 20th century.

No discussion necessary.

Wrong. In Greece and Roman Empire, women were much more free.

That notion is absurd.  While the wealth of knowledge the Roman Empire, or the lesser chronciles of ancient Greece talk about women, they were almost entirely accounts of women as written by men and by majority deal with generics or the aristocracy.  There is almost nothing in way of their ideals, hopes, dreams, in their own personal accounts.  Even if you bound all the propaganda of Lesbos into a single book, you have tablescraps.

Even with the rose tinted goggles of antiquity, the role of a of-age maried woman in Roman civil structure was concerned was that of a childbearer, mother, and wife, and even in that her father, then her husband, was the final arbiter.  They couldn't keep office; they couldn't vote; they couldn't even own property under normal conditions (I believe "abnormal" conditions existed, but it basically boiled down to some man liking you).  Sometimes, they didn't even have a formal name, where they were not fortunate enough to get a vaguely feminized variant of their father's middle name.

Thought it's not saying much, the primary thing a woman of Rome had over a woman of Athens was that at least the latter was considered a citizen of their country.

Self-correction.

Anyway, the status of women was much better than it became with Judaism, Islam and Christianity.

Some women back then even considered half-gods: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sibyl

I've already laid out why it sucked in general to be female during the times of antiquity; now it is on you to expound why conditions were worse in European society afterwards AND explain why this degradation was due to Imperialism.

Don't give me some paltry list of ten women when you are talking about the role of women in general.

Imperialism involves war and tyranny, but then the civilizations that were colonized were also tyrannical and conducted wars. It is fallacious to simply declare imperialism to be evil, it needs to be looked at objectively.

The difference between the imperialist and the native state was technology, superior technology is why they had the economic strength and military power to take over the native state so easily. Imperial countries also have their main industrial, commercial and government centers in their homeland, eventually though it becomes more economical for some of these activities to be situated in the colonies. Colonies usually become independent after they have fully adopted the technology of their masters and developed to the point where they have their own up to date industries, trade and military institutions.

So we have a basic picture of the process that imperialism takes.

1: Bloody transition period.
2: Technological development.
3: Economic development.
4: Independence.

Periods 1 is not beneficial to women. Periods 2 and 3 are. Period 4 is not necessarily beneficial to women. Let's look at 20th century independence movements.

The asian tigers are examples of beneficial independence movements.

India and the middle east are examples of independent countries that became stagnant and corrupt for decades and have only started developing rapidly after the end of the cold war.

Africa and south east asia became independent but then were preyed upon by Soviet imperialists who supported marxist rebels causing endless civil war and chaos.

Don't change these.
