Also, there is good old diplomacy threatenings: either you do as we tell, your country is embargoed, then bombed and your family killed.

Keep in mind, that U.S. has the strongest army, so it doesnt need no hitman.

I.e. such actions are equivalent to colonial regime, requiring enough firepower to enforce.

i should have been more specific. there is, as with lots of "conspiracy theories" enough argument that they exist. this john perkins saying he's been one, even writing a book about it.
but it's hard to find the opposite, arguments that they didn't exist, as it's supposedly all covert CIA stuff.
maybe that in itself is some form of evidence, but hardly anything concuslive
