In hindsight, that needs clarification.
Only counting religion vs non-religion, that may be 100-to-1, even less.
Counting rabid, oh-so-not fascistoid nutbags, then we're talking millions-to-one. Likely more.
I mean, when's the last time violent rallies went and burned flags, attacked embassies and murdered innocents over the "hurt irreligious feelings" of Atheists?
When's the last Atheist leader to call down a fatwa to have someone killed for insulting their... what? God?
Srsly, atheists don't have gods! That's what atheism is all about!
In reality, I've heard only a very small handful of states ever try to force people away from a religion in the name of "atheism". In all of those cases, the states in question were not really trying to eradicate religion, but to establish a new one. One where the State takes God's place.
Case in point: North Korea. Where the Kim dynasty is the centre of personality cults that really are religion in all but name.
Same with Soviet, and the Lenin Mausoleum. Are you sure there's not one little bit of religion in there? Really, really sure?
China doesn't really give a shit what religion you have, as long as your church gives their Communist Party supreme authority. Not sure if that means the Party is to rank above God, but that really wouldn't surprise me.
