Today's Italy resembles 90's Russia

Today's Italy increasing resembled Russia during the Yeltsin years: A country marked by an exodus of capital, shortage of credit, and inflexible economic structures. Mario Monti's government is looking at a difficult future.

"Unlike Russia, however, Italy can rely on a large stock private wealth: it is estimated at around 8.600 billion € (11.800 billion $), or 350.000 € (480.000 $) per household."

Except that this is all "paper wealth". The real wealth - the energy and infrastructure - is left in a very sad state.
