Are we talking euthanasia for imminent death cancer patients or for executions?
For execution I think we should skip euthanasia and bring back the firing squads.

Please someone do something!!!
If this bill this passes I will be the one to let you folks know that America's crime rate will increase by an enormous amount. It's an equivalent to to NFL threatening not having a season.
My opinion is that this thread should be euthanized.

Euthanasia is ok by me if I've made a living will to be killed/allowed to die if my brain activity is essentially 0. However by making my wishes known I can't force anyone to comply with my wishes and do the deed. Without a living will...
If a person is only alive because of medical intervention and have effectively died already, having almost no chance of recovery, I think the family should be allowed to terminate treatment. Actually killing an otherwise survivable person, however vegetative, is imo immoral. Feed them indefinitely - that's one duty I think the state has if no one else is prepared to do this. They're essentially honor bound to prevent that person's murder: no different to an abandoned baby which can't feed itself. As long as the person has a chance of recovery greater than 0, you can't let them die.
Meanwhile I have no problem with assisted suicide for the mentally competent. It's my life. I have the right to end my life if I wish. You have the right to help me if I want you to, or to refuse.
A common objection is that families will put pressure on burdensome relatives to choose to kill themselves. I don't see this as a issue. What about relatives putting pressure on me to stay alive, even if my life is intolerable?
