Soldiers

Why do people respect soldiers so much? WW2 was the last justifiable war. Soldiers don't defend our freedoms, our rights and liberties get stolen everyday (often in the name of national security).
Welfare recipients are more productive than soldiers.

They get medical care and access to education that's out of reach of huge swathes of the population, effectively compelling people to join the army if they want a chance at a not completely shit life. I'm not so certain this is how it should be.
