Anarchy will never work on a grand scale such as in America for the simple reason: there's too many people. Certain members of society would be exploited and power would re-establish itself, undermining the very cause you fought for.

By definition, anarchy fails almost instantly because no force exists to ensure anarchy's continued existence.  All it takes is one conflict for a community leader to turn into a petty king.

This discussion is really more about the psychology behind why people lap up these beliefs. I suppose it's like how we take the sewage system for granted, it's so efficient. well developed and been around so long most of the time we forget it's even there.
