Democratic Socialism

I've recently begun reading quite a lot about different political and economic views, and have begun to realize that I identify most with Democratic Socialism.  I have one question about it, though.  Because democracy is applied to business, what keeps the larger majority of workers demanding more money than managers and up receive?  Would there be federal laws making minimum incomes for each level of the business hierarchy, or would workers just realize that that model would run the business into the ground?

3.  Instead of workers being paid a set wage and executives and share holders getting all of the profit, the worker cooperatives would distribute the profit throughout the firm as they see fit.  This provides motivation for workers because now, instead of a set wage regardless of how well the company does, they are directly affected by the growth of the firm they work for.

4.  In place of all business taxes, a single, capital tax will be issued.  A flat rate tax will be taken from each firm based on how much capital they have.  This tax money goes to the government, who invest it back in to the economy, passing whatever amount is left over down to the next lower level of government (and so on and so forth).

5.  Also (I forgot to mention) this is NOT a command economy.  Minimal aspects of the economy are centrally planned, and most of the economy operates on a market system, largely based on supply and demand.
