Nobody in their right mind seriously suggests that social safety net programs suck up more of the government's budget than its defense (and by extension, DHS national security style bullshit). But, hey, you can continue to pretend in your la-la world with Humpty Dumpty, Hansel and Gretel and Mother Goose where military spending doesn't cost a dime, and where social safety net programs cost upwards of a trillion dollars a year.
