If Jesus ever came back...

What would the Republicans AND the Conservatives REALLY think of him?

Imagine Duke Nukem Forever, but a longer wait followed by an even bigger disappointment, kind of like what happened in the new testament.

Jesus was either just a simple Jew who formed his own totalitarian religious sect, or never existed at all.

Jesus has already come back, but now he's called Charles Manson.

No matter how hard your political bias against christians the bible is still a historical source, saying Jesus didn't exist is like saying Ramses II didn't exist because his tomb paintings show him 50 feet tall and conversing with the gods which couldn't have happened therefore the mummy and all the evidence suggesting his existence is fake.

Jesus was just a swell guy with a few good ideas, the totalitarianism came later when christians obtained political power. Power corrupts etc...

If Jesus existed then why are there Jo secular records of his existence?

Whoever told you that all historical sources or records are true, needs to be committed.
Historian have determined who wrote the bible, and it wasn't the diciples. The writers were essntially employed by the government to keep people pacified. That's the role of ALL religion: It's a tool created by the government to scam us in order to rob us of our freedom and keep us from rising up against them.

Doesn't matter whether it's secular or not.

When I view the tomb paintings of Ramses I do not instantly believe he was 50 foot tall and conversed with the gods, neither do I pretend nothing can be interpreted from the tomb paintings and that Ramses never existed, I presume Ramses was an ordinary human who had a position of authority in ancient Egypt. How is this mental process difficult to understand?

Well I don't believe that Santa Claus was an ordinary man somewhere in time, or that Homer Simpson is or was an ordinary man somewhere. It's called "making shit up". If you watch most movie credits until the end, they even have a disclaimer there to tell you that "any similarities with any person, living or dead, is entirely accidental". I'm suspecting that they put this up becuase of people like you.

You obviously still don't get it. Do you believe Ramses II existed? Obviously his tomb paintings and memorials were mythological, it "could" have all been made up, so why do you believe Ramses II existed?

I should have expected such a response. You need unbiased sources, if you only analyze the data from one side of an argument you are a fool.

Why do you think your example of ramses II proves the existence of jesus.  The only thing that will prove the existence of jesus is accurate historical records, not some belief that biblical accounts aren't meant to be taken literally and therefore are accurate.

Christ, who still exists, is a highly evolved entity who has existence in many systems of reality. However, Christ has the same relationship to God that all other individuals do — i.e., he is part of God. Seth said that Jesus was not crucified, and that it is not in the nature of enlightened individuals to sacrifice themselves. Rather, a willing and deluded surrogate, who believed himself to be the Messiah, was substituted in Jesus’ place, and it was this surrogate whom Judas betrayed (and who was then crucified). Jesus was then able to be “resurrected” because he had not actually died. Seth said that the crucifixion of Jesus did occur as a shared psychic event, but it did not occur as a physical event.

Paul/Saul will reincarnate in the 21st century to correct mistakes that he made that set Christianity on the wrong course, and a period of spiritual awareness will ensue. Paul/Saul will not identify himself as Christ, and some will view him as the anti-Christ since his appearance will hasten the decline of traditional Christianity, along with other organized religions. Paul/Saul will be known as a psychic; he will strive “to straighten out Christianity, which will be in shambles at the time of His arrival”, and he will form “a new system of thought when the world is sorely in need of one”. The events surrounding the return of Paul/Saul will substantially be complete by the year 2075, but the ensuing changes to society will take a century to unfold.

A Christian has to live his life in the example of Christ, foregoing worldly comforts and sacrificing in every way possible to make the world a better place through good works and peaceful loving struggle.

The religious right you refer to prefer the terrorist god of death of the old testament. When analyzed objectively, they are just a very large sect of Jews.

I've never met a Christian and doubt I ever will. I'm pretty sure that religion died out centuries and centuries ago.

There are some really awesome Christians I know who live outdoors and eat out of the trash... They will literally give the shirt off their back to you if you need it.
Not my cup of tea, but the first time I've been able to say: "THAT's how it's supposed to be done!"

he would never stop throwing up.

He would probably support abortion before 20 weeks, evolution, religious pluralism and gay marriage. On the other hand he would have a conclusive philosophical proof of god and crush all the atheists in debates, I'd love to see him intellectually checkmate Dawkins, then the butthurt atheists would persecute him and demand he be given death by lethal injection and we'd put up syringes instead of crosses in our churches.

Name: Anonymous 2011-07-11 2:16

Not that I would want the atheists to do this of course.

Atheists would cease to exist if a cloud man appeared from heaven. Besides, he'd congratulate us and condemn his supposed followers. We'd go chill in Heaven with him, while his followers suffered through Armageddon for their wickedness.
