Why cant we(the United States) go back to the days of not giving a fuck about anything that's not in the western hemisphere?

Too much time spent fucking with (and up) the rest of the world. Now people there have started fucking back.

Plus, the folks in power need a good scarecrow to keep the good citizens in line. Like mr Osama Bin-Scarecrow.

(The two don't really conflict; Bin-Scarecrow's Brotherhood is also good for honey-trapping (some of) those angry America-haters, 1984-style.)

It's still in some Americans self interest to intervene where it can. For as much some Americans claim it is harmful for them, there are many other Americans (wealthy and powerful ones) getting rich off of these interventions.
