Face it, the majority of Libya is behind Qadhafi. He built that country. If he wanted to kill his own people why is he arming every civilian with guns to create a militia in case a foreign power invades them by land? Shouldn't these same "oppressed" civilians use those firearms against Qadhafi?

Looks like the plan's working. I'm not sure what will happen next, either Gadaffi's core of loyalists will call for negotiation or shit will get real in western Libya as they make their last stand. The new government will most likely be a corrupt fledgling democracy, we would be better off letting the Arab league handle this for political reasons, the best thing is just for Libya to remain open like Pakistan and focus on developing it's economy, since corruption is inevitable we'll have to hope a capitalist plutocracy will have most of the power, one that gains most of it's power from economic power and is willing to make political concessions and values openness to facilitate economic diversity and foreign trade.
