Then it doesn't matter if they think the money will be spent better, its NOT their money.

Sounds like you going to be suffering stress, stomach problems, erection problems and anxiety if you're not already. Typical symptoms of individuals who view the world in such a selfish and competitive way. Achieving the goal of becoming rich and powerfull won't reverse that.
