C'mon, Norwegians pay *really high* taxes, they have a GREAT public health and education system, and extreme poverty and analphabetism are practically zero. It's true for all the Norse countries, too.
Maybe if US government spent money in people instead of stupid and useless wars...

This is true. The defense budget alone accounts for a huge chunk of the annual trillion + dollar Federal budget deficit and outstanding debt each year.
