US Al Megrahi row

Do you sympathize with the USA's bleatings about the release of Al Megrahi?

This is how I see it:

It was internationally agreed that he would be tried in a Scottish court under Scottish law.

He was released under Scottish compassion laws.

He's living longer because he isn't in Jail and being properly cared for.

This link with BP and Al Megrahi is completely unsubstantiated I haven't heard a shred of evidence to support this claim. Though, BP did lobby for release of a different Libyan a few years ago I must add.

This is all academic anyway as he probably didn't do it.

There was a big expose by an independent journalist called Paul Foot. The case he made against the conviction is substantial. He argued that it was a conviction of convenience and Magrahi was a fall guy (he was not 100% clean, but there was no evidence to link him to this particular crime).

Its well known it was a sham case and conviction and Megrahi had that report as part of his defense. The cancer was an excuse for the Scottish government to dump him back in Libya with a gag order and silence him for good.
