I'm only 23 and have only been paying attention to it for about 5 years, but I am already completely sick of politics. I just can't stand this bullshit anymore. It never fucking ends.

I have yet to see a single politician that wasn't a back-stabbing, lying, hypocritical asshole blatantly in the pocket of some industry or interest group.

Republicans, Democrats, even the so-called "independents" and third parties. All of them. All the same. It's all fucking bullshit.

What the fuck.

Obama seems like he's at least TRYING to fulfill his "Change" and "Hope" promises, but the closer I look, the more frustrated I get with the rest of the country. He's made some bad calls, sure, and I'll bet he's surprised to be making largely the same decisions as his predecessor on some issues, but at least he seems to be trying.

It was only during the past year or so that I really got into global politics. I thought, "surely the rest of the world can't be this bad." I was wrong. America may be the butt of jokes, but every other country out there has the same fundamental problems taken to different extremes.

I have come to the conclusion that the entire fucking planet is either stupid or insane. The human race is, for the most part, a vast herd of ignorant, irrational pricks. I've always had a vague sort of amazement at the stupidity of the masses, but only in the last couple years has it really hit me how massive the scale of it is.

If I could punch everyone on Earth in the dick, I would.

So that's the problem. But what's the solution? There isn't one. Not one that would bear fruit in my lifetime, anyway. We can only educate our children as best we can and hope future generations outgrow our bullshit.

I can't fucking stand it any more. I'm done.

They don't have any particular talent. They are good at talking and lying that's it. There's no other job where these skills make money.

I disagree. I think that progress is being made, albeit slowly. I don't find politics to be completely ineffective either. If it were, our planet would have been destroyed by nuclear war long ago. No one here finds it an amazing accomplishment that 6 billion of us are able to share this planet? After all, there hasn't been a world war in 65 years and as long as global economic development continues there is no reason to expect another.

I agree. Nuclear war would produce no winner. I merely used nuclear war as an example to prove why politics is not a fruitless pursuit. Much politics goes into safely maintaining nuclear arms, nonproliferation, and the almost impossible goal of disarmament. These days all having nuclear weaponry will buy you is a seat in the UN security council.

On economic development:

There's no denying that there is a direct link between a country's economic performance and vulnerability to civil strife. If you look at every country or region where conflict is occurring you will find that at the heart of each one is a portion of the population not getting its slice of the proverbial economic pie. The bigger a country's middle class the more peace a country will enjoy.

And by the way, why materialism may be an emotionally bankrupt pursuit, I'll take a world full of capitalist bourgeois pig dogs over christian radicals/muslim fundamentalist/jewish imperialists/ fucking hippies any day.

and on the economic problem: free market solutions work the best at solving the allocation of resources. the real problem lies in income inequality and redistribution of new found economic wealth. See India for example.

true...too much conflicting regulation and special interest intervention is choking the free market system...there is a delicate balance between the government and the economy. it's not an easy thing to get right

I agree completely and, in my country, it is the class that suffers a lot. Low-class gets help from the government, and high-class can pay shit. Middle-class, doesn't get any help and has to pay tons of shit. Though to live I must say(and that is why my country is a bunch of shit).

Politics is politics. Everyone needs power. Power can be obtained through (primarily) military force and/or money. That is never, ever, going to change.

I'm a communist. If we became a classless society we could solve a lot of our current problems in politics.

i think there so many things wrong with each and every one of us that they all balance themselves out, with only some poking out now and then over the time that we grow up most of us learn to control these imperfections making these go away, while some cnt control or are over whelmed by theirs and it spill out on to the street. some people posse more control than other and can deal with the same problems extremely different
