Presidential facial hair

What happened to it?  We haven't had a president with facial hair since William Howard Taft.  Don't you think Obama would look cool with a soul patch

I think he should grow a soul patch on his upper lip.

Which president had the best facial hair?

I'd have to go with Chester Arthur's muttonchops, though I'm also fond of the rugged beards that Hayes, Garfield, and Harrison had (must've been popular around that time)
