What's wrong with practicing law or medicine without a license?

Uh... I'm not a laissez-faire capitalist. No one who really understands economics is. But I do believe that the certification and licensing of professions is an authoritarian tactic used to restrict competition, control employment, and establish market control. I understand that the intention is also to create and maintain a "professional standard", but they go too far. There have been many distinguished auto-didactic lawyers in history(hello! Abe Lincoln), but it's impossible to take the bar now without paying 60K a year for three years in an "accredited" law school(except in CA). And I'm not even gonna get into the rigors of getting a medical license. I will say that I know god damned well that I have seen many uncredentialed people medically treating people, and helping them a great deal.
As with everything else in life, caveat emptor. You can't rely on others whose agendas are concerned with much more than your personal best interests.
