The pope

Just a question I have been thinking about. If the pope called for a holy war on the middle east right now do you think it would happen?

what exactly does the Vatican gain from invading the middle east?

He'd probably be deemed insane and the vatican would try to replace him as quietly as possible. A few extremists would proclaim that the pope is right and muslims are evil but they would be too pussy to do anything.

Would it happen?  Yes, of course it would.  Most papists around today (at least in America) would probably waffle over joining a war, and there'd be plenty who would leave Catholocism entirely, but there'd be enough fundamentalists around who actually want to kill jews and/or muslims and are willing to suit up and go charging in.

Of course, this would probably not be anywhere near enough for an effective force, unless God is in fact on their side.  And the pope would probably be depoped afterwards due to papal incompetence.

Of course >>4 is correct.  That sort of declaration spoken aloud would be insane.  The fact is the Roman Catholic church has never ceased it's holy war against Islam.  It's just  currently in a "cold" phase, and the church is pretending a posture of tolerance in the interests of political efficacy.

>>7  Try jibe.

To shift a fore-and-aft sail from one side of a vessel to the other while sailing before the wind so as to sail on the opposite tack?  That doesn't jibe with my jib.

2. Slang Deceptive, nonsensical, or glib talk:

It's a common mistake.  Try and not make it worse with poorly conceived attempts at jive humor.  It doesn't jibe with responsible, intelligent conduct.

But yeah guys, >>4 is spot on. If you haven't noticed, Catholics are one of the more mellow Christian sects nowadays.

Pope slammed over envoy firing

VATICAN CITY - Pope Francis came under fire from victims' groups yesterday following news that he had quietly sacked the Vatican's envoy to the Dominican Republic over allegations of paedophilia.

Monsignor Josef Wesolowski, the papal nuncio in Santo Domingo, was sacked on Aug 21 for allegedly having sex for money with underage boys in the "Zona colonial", the historic centre of Santo Domingo.

This was made public only last Wednesday.
