Every day we neglect these black people, never giving them even the slightest bit of intellectual support, when inside every one of them is this amazing brilliance just itching to blossom and make positive changes in the world. I’m a current ivy league student and have this nagging, back of my head, wouldn’t share with anyone fear that (although I’m involved with a lot of community service and social justice issues) the next Obamas are running around our campus, and I’m not friends with them. With everything I have to do, this seems like a ridiculous, ungrateful thing to think about … but I think about it.

Exactly. I must judge a black man's character before I judge him as a member of the black race. Although in my experience, the individuals that I have evaluated in this manner have lacked moral and intellectual character. There were some exceptions, and I appreciate such individuals for not promoting their own stereotypes.
