There's a huge fucking difference between adapting to changes in the environment, and adapting the environment to suit us. The first one is practically the definition of evolution, and the second one is just plain arrogance.
And do you have any idea what range of temperatures the average human body can thrive in? We're pretty much a tropical species, and we're well-established all over the fucking planet. The only places we don't particularly care to live are places that are just too damned cold. And we can even manage those if we need to.
The human race is ridiculously adapatable, which is why we're now the domininant species on this planet. We'll run out of fossil fuels well before we make this planet too globally warmed enough for us to survive on.
