Lots of brown is called black, and a little brown color is called white. In actuality, no human really is "black" and no human is "white." There are not different colors but different shades of one basic color, brown.

While many factors are involved in determining skin color and the steps are very technical, basic genetics can help us understand the most important principles.

DOMINANT GENES result in lots of melanin and RECESSIVE GENES result in little melanin.

One might say: "I'll believe we are all one race when you can show me two black people having a white baby and two white people having a black baby."

So, it's not just "black" and "white." Bottom line: a person's skin shade (what is on the outside) should in no way invoke any sort of prejudice or racist comments.

Sure, most people suck, but their skin color has nothing to do with it. It's who they are as Individuals that determine their worth.

Ok so you admit skin color is due to genes. Now explain the differences between hair and eye color, multiple differences in cellular chemistry, bone structure and density, muscle size, brain size and shape, skin pore distribution and oil production, immunities to different diseases, allergies and intolerances highly correlated with race, mental and physical performance and genes highly correlated by race that are used by forensic scientists on a day to day basis who's results are admissable in a court of law.

Race is defined as: "A local geographic or global human population distinguished as a more or less distinct group by genetically transmitted physical characteristics."

So you're basically saying skin color (a trival part of race) varies gradually across people. Sorry but you're a bit behind the knowledge curve on race; everyone interested in the subject knows this because it's obvious. Skin color =/= race, and overlap does not mean race doesn't exist.

I remember this. Craig Venter. The guy who established that there was just one race based on the data of a single genome: his. As Harpending said, his kid could see through the sophistry of this statement.
