Israel didn't purposefully attack the USS Liberty. What would be the motivation of attacking its own ally? The Liberty was attacked because a) an Israeli spyplane pilot that recognized it as American was an idiot and failed to report it to HQ, and b) the captain of the ship was an idiot and chose not to respond to Israeli radio hailing. This was a textbook case of military stupidity and incompetence on both sides, not malice.
As for Israel "slaughtering" the Egyptians? The six day war was in response to the Egyptian navy blockading the Straits of Teheran, blocking off Israel's trade routes. That's an act of war.
