Japan's low birth rates may be due to a proliferation of condoms, sex dolls, porn videos and magazines, hentai manga, anime and games, anime figurines, etc. Should such pro-porn culture be available in the US in order to curb birth rates? You advocate personal liberty as long as it doesn't violate the liberty of others, and insist that this is a realistic concept and not just a philosophic ideal. Say I do crack because it's my personal choice to do so. By your definition of personal liberty I should be able to do all the crack I want as long as I'm happy. Of course I had to find and pay a crack supplier, who only exists because of demand provided by crack users, and supply from crack distributors, who sell to more dealers and users than just myself. It doesn't matter if these dealers are linked in any way to local poverty or crime because you seem to believe all individual actions, as long as they be actions of personal freedom, take place in a vacuum where nothing else is affected.
That's fine, I'll grow my own drugs so fewer people are affected by my actions. I tell my friends "hey, grow your own drugs, don't support the industry by spending your precious cash," but of course I've violated their freedom by telling them what they should or shouldn't do. I don't want to be a nanny, so instead I'll let them do whatever they want, which involves spending their own money to support the drug industry. People are still affected by their decision, but since I don't want to impede on their freedom, I do nothing. I can't force them to make their actions not affect anyone. So I sit by myself, smoking crack, hoping that everyone else in the world shares the same view of personal freedom, without ever violating anyone else's freedom due to greed, selfishness, taking advantage of others to make life easier, or any other human qualities. I've got my one man utopia all to myself.
