I think we should just let it take it's course and use diplomacy to get on the good side of the victor. Millions of people have been murderred and brutalised in the past, what difference does a few million more make?
From an African vs Muslim view, as some take it, this means that Islam will spread if they have military superiority. Having non-Muslim Africans succeed means this hostile religion is less likely to spread as rapidly.
