colonialism fucked africa and black africans hard in the ass.  no lube or reacharound either.  yeah, raped 'em actually.  the borders were drawn so that rival groups would be in the same country, and big groups split into countries with rivals.  this is one of the root causes of the killing orgy in Rwanda.  there was also the enslavement and so forth, not fun times for the natives.  or elephants.

Most colonialism was just a penis riot of medieval brutality. 19th century British colonialism however was morally superior, especially when compared to non-western cultures, and saw the construction of trading towns and cities, the sharing of technology and the belief that new nations could be built and that black people were like the Celts who inhabitted Britain before it was civilised by the Romans.

Beside robbing Africa of the natural resources it held and ruining the population's chances of estabilishing effective farming to provide food for themselves, the way the territories were drawn between the european colonists caused the pre-estabilished tribes to scatter and mix leading to wars that are still going on in different countries.
