There is no proof of god in the first place.

On this day each one is to bring a lunch to be eaten outdoors in a grassy picnic area. Every “Baptist Day” the school would invite one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education center. One year they invited Dr. Paul Tillich. Dr. Tillich spoke for two-and-a-half hours proving that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book. He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection, the religious tradition of the Church was groundless, emotional mumbo-jumbo, because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who, in fact, never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions.

After about 30 seconds, an old preacher with a head of short-cropped, woolly white hair stood up in the back of the auditorium. “Docta Tillich, I got one question,” he said as all eyes turned toward him. He reached into his lunch sack and pulled out an apple and began eating it. “Docta Tillich (crunch, munch), my question is a simple one (crunch, munch). Now, I ain’t never read them books you read (crunch, munch), and I can’t recite the Scriptures in the original Greek (crunch, munch). I don’t know nothin’ about Niebuhr and Heidegger (crunch, munch).” He finished the apple. “All I wanna know is: This apple I just ate—was it bitter or sweet?”

Dr. Tillich paused for a moment and answered in exemplary scholarly fashion: “I cannot possibly answer that question, for I haven’t tasted your apple.” The white-haired preacher dropped the apple core into his crumpled paper bag, looked up at Dr. Tillich and said calmly, “Neither have you tasted my Jesus.”

TL;DR

Evil is just a point of view.

tl;dr version: If you ignore facts needed to disprove something it can exist if you want it to.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-09 15:47

Who said myths can't have tastes?

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-09 16:51

"Neither have you tasted my Cthulhu."

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-09 19:26

God of the gaps.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-09 20:21

ain't no god just get over it

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-09 20:55

>>11
But what about the irrefutable proof of god? Should I just ignore that?

Name: RedCream 2007-10-10 10:42

>>12
Present said evidence and we'll see how "irrefutable" it is.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 10:42

>>13
The Bible. Which is true because the Bible says the Bible is true. You can't get around that, atheistfag.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 10:46

>>14
Troll harder.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 11:44

Buddha says you'd better not care whether gods (including God as a matter of course) really exist.

Musashi Miyamoto, one of the most famous samurais, said "I just pay respect to gods if any but don't depend on them."

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 11:53

Buddhists are inferior. They are like medieval catholics.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 11:54

Buddhism is bullshit PROVE ME WRONG!

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 11:57

>>18
Buddha is not even a God, it's a fake religion.
Can't prove you wrong.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 12:13

dunno, Buddhism is more thoughtful than other religions out there. Other religions have overpowered Buddhism in the past cuz they fought harder and were less ethical.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 12:14

Ethics? I'm not being an atheist faggot, but who set the rules for these ethics?

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 12:16

ethics = lack of being a bully

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 12:16

people who think about other people and what other people might like, that's who sets the rules. It's an evolving thing.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 12:19

of course, some of those people probably said "God" did it to further their own agendas.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 14:38

everyone knows what ethical and moral behaviour is. don't give me this "who decides what right and wrong is" bullshit. you know that drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, doing illicit drugs, seeing prostitutes, stealing, doing violent acts, etc is immoral and unethical.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 14:40

>>25
You're wrong, morality can change from a people to another, it's part of their evolutionary strategy as a people and of their Zeitgeist.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-10 22:52

Yeah, shifting morality is totally why every single beginning culture has fables and stories about morality that are almost exactly the same.

Name: anonymous 2007-10-12 6:37

god is a figure made by our desire to feel there is more than here, therefore he can't exist on in our weak mind that he gains his power

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-12 14:46

Some morals are universal. Some morals are not universal. Some morals are universal in certain situations but not in others. Nietzsche was a dumbass.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-12 15:11

So the old man came out of the closet for Jesus.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-12 16:46

Just a simple question; Why is it whenever Atheists get there ire up about god and religion they always argue about it with Christians? I never hear in these threads about how Allah and His Prophet Muhammad don't exist, or about the Jews who tell the Muslims they're wrong?

Aren't you guys supposed to deny the existence of any god, not just the Christian god?

I'm Buddhist by the way.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-12 17:03

>>31
Because Muslims are fucking stupid and uncivilized; we expect them to believe in magical Gods in the sky. Sand niggers don't come on 4chan anyway, so no point trying to troll them.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-12 17:33

>>31
Actually you've asked one of the hardest question there are, it has much to do with neo-Marxists installing a culture of critique in the 60s (intellectual and political discourse) over most White nations (the overthrow being well tied to demonstrating the irrationality of Christianity, but more factors such as 'we've been evil and we should repent' -- you know, the whole white guilt trip), in order to dismantle the whole of Western civilisation through self-ostracism, self moral condemnation and quite possibly evolutionary death for the creation their supposed utopia. Thus, the reason why we are so critical of Christianity today is because we are individualists driven to the point of self destruction, convinced of being morally bankrupt, thus all means of punishment should be used against ourselves.

Note: I'm just saying what historically happened, I'm not in support of Christianity -- I despise it and am an atheist and critical of all religions equally across the board. Just pointing out that most atheists today just flow with the current culture of critique against ourselves imposed by a leftist elite.

Either that or what >>32 said.

>>32
I assume by sand niggers you mean kikes? If so, they constantly come on 4chan and whine to us about bombing Iran, like we can do that from 4chan, and about Muslims, just like you are now.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-14 3:12

Atheists are even more deluded than christians/religionfags. There is no proof that there is no higher power, but it is probably the most logical explanation of how our universe was brought together, though probably not exactly the same way relgions try to interpret it. Saying that it is completely unpossible and plugging your ears is just ignorant.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-14 3:48

>>34
aha... so why is it i should be a religionfag again? Even if it is the most logical thing, how does it in ANY way justify religions?

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-14 6:18

Buddhism is bullshit PROVE ME WRONG!

No one has to. Quantum Physics already did.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-14 6:20

Christians have a habbit of forcing their beliefs on everyone else. If a detailed explanation isn't enough to make some one go "Oh, okay, that makes sence." then obviously, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-14 16:44

>>33
This is moronic. The ability to self-criticize relentless and thus self-improve is what makes us better ethical, socially, culturally to the east. It's like you want us to be as focused at nazi-era germans were. Everything in western society is needed for it's survival. we're doing just fine and if we end, then it was time to end. nothing last forever

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-14 16:55

>> There is no proof that there is no higher power, but it is probably the most logical explanation of how our universe was brought together,

hurrr

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-14 18:32

>>29 that is true, some places vary in goods and services. therefore you cannot judge or set a morals.
>>31 i agree, if you can't follow your own beliefs then how do we know you have any credibility.
>>35 don't refer to it as "religionfag" you have no clue what is going on.
believe what you want. just remember, "there are no atheists in foxholes"

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-14 20:07

oh please, i'll call it whatever i want. I think religions are incredibly counter-productive for humanity as a whole so i'll take the liberty of calling religious people for religionfags.
"there are no atheists in foxholes" oh come oooon, you're just being a retard now, assuming that people can't not believe in god if they're in a pressed situation, based on a quote from some guy from WWII.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-15 2:56

If you think about it, Christianity is the only religion that hasn't ever been proven false. In fact, most of the more popular ones, like evolution, have been proven false in so many ways, yet people will believe it regardless.
If you choose to ignore that, thats your business I suppose..

I do happen to know that I wouldn't be alive today if there was no God.

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-15 3:27

epic mega-fail

Name: Anonymous 2007-10-15 11:36

"There are no atheists in foxholes" Only refers to the fact that people need something to believe in. Think about it, if you are going to die do you want to think that you are going to remain as a rotting corpse in the ground or that there is something else for you to achieve? Religion is born from the need to believe that there is more to life than what really is.

That being said, consider: If the universe is infact infinite then God does both exist and does not exist at the same time.

Take that home, chew it.

You're such an inspiration
For the ways that I will
Never, ever choose to be
Oh so many ways for me to show you
How your savior has abandoned you

Fuck your God! Your Lord, your Christ
He did this, took all you had and
Left you this way, still you pray, never stray, never
Taste of the fruit, never thought to question "Why?"

More importantly; if God exists, then why does He have to be an old guy with a white beard sitting on a cloud?

I get the idea about the possibility of a god creating everything and whatnot, it's the personalisation that baffles me. It turns him into nothing more than a security blanket, like the nice notion that Santa Claus will come down your chimney and give you lots of presents if you're good, and coal if you're bad.
