The efforts of the NRA, GOA, and other fantastic pro-liberty groups have been successful in getting good strict-constructionist judges on the bench. Now we have a lineup of good conservative judges: Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito, John Roberts, and one moderate-conservative: Justice Kennedy.
It is critical that, if we are to continue having success with regard to important liberties like the 1st and 2nd Amendment, that we continue to get good strict-constructionist judges on the bench who will strictly interpret the constitution, rather than legislating from the bench.
These strict constructionists are the kinds of judges who overturn provisions of hideously unconstitutional laws like the McCain-Feingold Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act prohibiting the NRA from communicating to his members and the rest of the people of the unconstitutional voting records of their members of congress and of whoever holds the white house. If the NRA, GOA, and other gun rights groups want to stop gun bans, they need to be able to speak to do so, and they can't speak without good strict constructionist judges who will protect our constitutional liberties.
Furthermore, with the Supreme Court expected to take the first Second Amendment case (Parker vs D.C.) in over 70 years, and decide once and for all if individual Americans have a right to keep and bear arms secured for them by our constitution, having big-government loving loose-constructionist judges appointed by left-wing democrats will possibly lead to bigger government, and may endanger critically important parts of the constitution like the 1st and 2nd Amendments.
On the other hand, if we get more judges like Alito, who thinks all Americans have a constitutional right to own submachine guns on the benches of the federal courts, some of our most important constitutional rights such as the 1st and 2nd Amendments will be much safer. As you consider who you will support for president, make sure they take a strong stand in defense of the constitution!

So there's another couple reasons it is also important we have a pro 2nd Amendment Attorney General.
