Bottom line is it made life better for Africans and at least gave them some kind of civilization. It's a sad thing that it's seen as evil. Most of the Whites that lived in Africa had good intentions.
No one asked the Black in Africa if they wanted the so-called civilization that Whites brought and then IMPOSED on them. The "good intentions" hardly matter. Anyone who thinks otherwise should go onto an American Indian Reservation and start spouting the same bullshit ... and we'll see how long you last.
