I've been agreeing with the Original Poster's stance since my Senior year of High School. Enough of being a member of the subculture, liking obscure things and even exotic things such as anime and other non-majority preferences. Because something is done by the majority of a society doesn't mean it's wrong or that the action is not calculated. In fact, I'm beginning to see myself as a radical conformist, in that I conform with society but I see the reasons in which conforming makes sense by Immanuel Kant's Categorical Imperative. I know that won't make sense to the lot of you but it means this -- people only behave in ways preferable to the ways in which they would model a set of universal ethics.

And you know what? I think it's possible, relativism has its uses but limited -- absolutist ethics and performing societal deeds is how to live the good life.

Welcome to humanity, leave the angst at the door.

"Categorical Imperative"
That's a long word for a concept as simple as a social contract.

Don't change these.
