I cannot believe you are comparing the simplistic views and discoveries of ancient China to the extremely complicated Jet Engine. WHile they have some things in common, the jet engine is much more complex than whta the CHinese used.
The idea that China invented everything is absurd as the idea that blacks invented everything. I view them in the same light, the only difference is that at least it is only the Chinese who believe this, not the Taiwanese, Koreans, Mongols, Japanese, Tibetan and other independant asian nations with superior cultures and history to China. All blacks believe they invented everything, they are all guilty of hubris. With Mongoloids it's just the Chinese.
That's the funny thing about the notion that the Chinese invented all of this stuff. Who cares whether or not they may or may not have invented it, they're still a shitty country who got destroyed by opium and abused by the West. Essentially they're using the notion that they invented the gun and all of these other things to make up for the fact that they're just starting to become a somewhat decent nation.
Not to mention the fact that with some of the inventions people seem to ignore the fact that it is ancient technology that didn't necessarily lay the groundwork for further advances. They didn't really seem to build off of their ideas that much. At least given how China eventually became.

"A University of Calgary physician has identified how cancer spreads in the brain in a study published Tuesday in the journal PLoS Biology.
Oncology Prof. Peter Forsyth and his team pinpointed the molecular "switch" that signals cancer cells to migrate away from the primary tumour site.
"Brain cancers are a very deadly disease. The average patient only lives about a year with the best available treatments with radiation, with chemotherapy and surgery, so clearly we have to do a much better job," said Forsyth, the study's author.
The "switch" is a molecule called the p75 neurotrophin receptor. It is mainly found in embryonic brain development where it acts as a brake, stopping brain cells from migrating and growing.
But cancer cells exploit this mechanism to accelerate their growth and invade healthy brain tissue.
"[They've] sort of turned the normal machinery to the dark side of the force and used it for their own benefit," he said."
