The Chinese Apocalypse is Coming

HEAR YE HEAR YE THE END IS NEAR *Sandwich board*

Gentlemen, consider this. 

There are almost as many Chinese internet users as American ones. 
Except China still has 80% of its population to hook up to the internet, far outnumbering Americans even if we were all INTERNET EXPERTS.

In 20 years, the Chinese will be everywhere.  They'll penetrate into foreign sites, with their godless heathen language. 

Imagine this:  You're on 4chan.  You make a post, 5 Chinese people disagree with you.  Half the boards and forums are full of Chinese, with their strange foreign memes and pop culture. 

Americans, being confident and short-sighted, envision an English speaking internet for the future.  But in reality the Internet will be dominated by China with sheer numbers.

What will the internet become?  Discuss.

In the long-term the government restrictions won't matter, with the rate at which they're growing fat with wealth it won't be long before China becomes a democracy I'd imagine. Expectations rise with wealth, right?

However, it's also true that by 2015 50% of the world's population will be able to speak English, including most of the Chinese I'd imagine. Though obviously it's pure speculation I'd imagine that they'd conform to English interwebs due to gradual intergration?

I'd worry more about the times when China's crops fail due to global warming, their population gets starving/aggravated, and their nuke-blessed government gets pissed with the West. Then we're fucked.
