He's OK with me about keeping government from enforcing morality, but I do think the government should be allowed to paint stripes on the roads and erect stop signs. And pass out food stamps. And employ deadbeats who otherwise would be begging on the street, being occasionally devoured by vultures and panthers.

prefer him to most others right now

most social issues that are argued about nowadays are pointless and get in the way of things that actually affect the majority of the population.

Imo this is Ron's best side... his social issues positions.  He could really do some good if he wins.  Stop the gun control, legalize marijuana... he's my kinda guy.

The vote to ban gay adoptions in D.C. sounds stupid, but possibly it was part of a larger bill that he supported 'on the whole.'  I somehow doubt he is a rabidly anti-gay congressman due to the fact that he voted against the constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage... so yeah, he's the perfect candidate if you ask me.

He generally has acceptable views on everything. I really dont understand this shit though:

Supports a Constitutional Amendment for school prayer. (May 1997)
Voted YES on building a fence along the Mexican border.

Of course people should be able to pray in school.
The world isn't perfect and it is unfair on americans to have an open border policy.

School prayer means mandatory prayer, cockgobbler. No shit people will pray in school, even if it is made illegal. Praying doesn't require talking. Are you a christfag? Seems so. Go waste some more time praying. Then thank god when one prayer out of 500 is "answered".

moment of silence can be used for prayer. If Johnny cannot pray then that is the parents problem. I have more of an issue with fags promoting their filthy lifestyles with fag weeks promoting this filth.

You don't have to pray if you don't want to.

And how the fuck does this justify mandatory prayer? If there is public schooling, then religion can fuck off. Private schooling? Go ahead.

And you can pray without doing it at a certain time. Everyone doesn't need to do it at once. Its the same effect (nothing).

what you guys must understand is that this is the support for a *constitutional amendment* for school prayer.

the current stream of politicians make laws that are completely unconstitutional, and in fact completely bypass the constitution's amendment making process.

furthermore, the building of a fence along the mexican border is to strengthen national sovereignty which is rapidly being usurped by international organizations such as the united states and the WTO, which do not have the same checks and balances as the constitution of the united states.

---

above all, ron paul has the best stance on social issues because he is a firm believer of individual rights and states' rights - which translates into more local (state and individual) control instead of centralized (federal, supranational, or collectivist) planning.

he believes that you have the right to being free to govern yourself with regards to critical issues and in delegating such powers to smaller constituencies such as the states.
