I have a local Methodist Church near my house, and I have to say the people who attend there are absolutely the nicest, kindest, and most understanding people I've ever met. Their whole life is dedicated to helping others. I don't get their religion, but I can totally respect them as good people.
And Muslims? They kill their daughters, ritually scar their sons, beat and rape their wives, and bring their shit caveman culture to all corners of the world, destroying everything in their path.
Christians are superior to those fucking sandnigger bums.
No. Christianity has done the worst, it's adherents going straight from persecuted to persecutors upon gaining Rome, and having further inspired Islam to emulate it.

Dont give my communism a bad name by lumping us together with the christians. Remember, premier communist fighter Ronald Reagan had a black belt in christianity.

In 1987, a young woman named Holly Ackerman was killed in a bizarre cult ritual. Now that you have read her name, she will come to you in the night and pay you a horrifying visit. You MUST do the following:
I think when discussing religion, each should be separated into religious philosophy and religious practice.
What i mean is that we should make a distinction between the philosophy espoused by the religious scripture and the people who have built a religion around that philosophy.
Like tao jia (taoist philosophy) and tao jio (taoist religion). The former is quite nice, whereas the latter some may call superstitious and crazy.
When we're speaking of Christian philosophy, there are many good values and morals that we can all learn from, and it has far fewer glaring moral points to attack, although the metaphysical aspects are clearly open for criticism.
However, it is sometimes difficult to separate the philosophy from the religion. For example, when paul wrote that gay sex was immoral, was it simply his own bias and prejudice masqueraded as Christianity, or is it a part of the core philosophy?
Anyway, looking only at the religious philosophy of the major world religions, i think the eastern religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, taoism, Jainism...) are especially interesting.
Of course you can criticize the acts of Buddhist monks or other eastern followers of the past (although even these are far less severe than their western counterparts), i dont think there is much to attack on morals and the way we should live our lives.

tl;dr
religion is of utter worthlessness, it hinders morals progress.. we already practiced the morals it teaches (except Buddhism)

Out of all religions Buddhism is at least giving it a shot at changing the sins of the past.
I agree. Though I'm torn between my interest in Eastern Religion and the thought of finding a Western alternative.
It's my personal belief that one shouldn't go stealing other religions until they've made an honest inquiry into their own native culture. Western Culture does have some things that the East kept.
Buddhist? Have you never heard of the Gnostics? The Hermes Trismegistus cult? Some of the Western Pagan religions had mysteries and deep philosophies, many of which were lost upon the Christianization of Europe.
Same with Native Americans. The Norse had a similar rite to the Native American "vision quest", they had animal traditions, they have all kinds of similar traditions.

I totally agree. Although i am from the east, so i am biased.
On another note, it makes me sad that the Muslims and Christians think it's their god given duty to convert the heathens of the east. Eastern philosophy is unique and beautiful in its own way. I wish the judeo-christian religions could've just let them be. I think the east definitely done without Islam and Christianity.
Thank you, though I suppose I can't take all the credit. I learned this from some Native Americans I talked to on Beliefnet. They're tired of "NA" weeaboos coming in and demanding that they be allowed into the ceremonies and so on. Then the weeaboos demand that the natives change for them. They hate that shit, cause it makes their religion nothing more than a toy for rich white weeaboo. I'm sure there are those who are genuinely interested, but I would think they'd *join the tribe* rather than simply come in twice a month.
By Minerva, that's fucked up. If you want to get close to nautre, look to your own traditions. You don't need to steal Shinto, Hinduism or Buddhism. If you want to be closer to the earth, look to your own ancestors -- the Celts, the Norse, the Greeks and Romans. If you want to be like the Buddhists, there are any number of mystery schools in paganism, or gnostics, or something else.
Totally. Whenever I hear the word 'yoga' in the west, it makes me cringe. It's exactly as you described. They don't know the first thing about yoga, some don't even know it's from Hinduism and the purpose is to unite oneself with Brahman, not some popular fad exercise system.
LOL EASTERN RELIGIONS ARE FOR WEEABOOS AND HIPPIES
