Marijuana side effects are temporary, stop smoking and you'll lose all of them. Yes smoking pot can cause lung cancer and is harsher on your lungs than cigarettes but who smokes 20+ joints a day?

The main reason why it's illegal is because it is a gateway drug. Many teens try drugs like Marijuana and think that because they haven't experienced any really harmful effects from it that other harder drugs will be the same.

It wouldn't be gateway drug if it were legal. Kids wanting to try pot have to get it from drug dealers, thus mixing with people who sell/use other more dangerous drugs. Plus the fact that they get lied to about pot and so assume they have been lied to about all drugs
